INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

  • The School of Dentistry (SoD) has agreed to provide some funding for University of Alberta (UofA) DDS and DH students for the SoD's 2018 Summer Research Program (Program).  Each UofA DDS or DH student enrolled in the Program will be guaranteed up to 100 hours of financial support providing the student is planning to return full-time to their undergraduate program in the fall.
  • Note: There will be opportunities for other undergraduate students and volunteers, however, they should contact hgood@ualberta.ca or pflood@ualberta.ca for more information.
  • Student researchers are expected to have completed the appropriate safety and/or ethics training required for their project before starting their project.  The time required to complete this training will not be paid for by the School.
  • Students are required to present their research as a poster presentation at the 2019 Day of Dentistry (to be scheduled).
  • Students are also encouraged to participate in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry’s Research Day in order to be eligible for funding from the School of Dentistry to present their work at a national or international meeting.  A call for abstracts for this event is expected to be available in August and abstracts are expected to be due in early September.  Faculty from Dentistry will be evaluating these presentations.  Winners from these presentations will be selected for travel funding to national or international meetings.
  • Student researchers are also expected to provide a written report at the end of the Summer Research program, and to attend the monthly noon-hour research meetings over the summer.
