Career Development Committee

Career Development Committee

The main goal of the committee is to provide students with information on careers through several activities. From 2007-2011 the committee consisted of professors and class representatives who met 3-4 times annually. In the recent year the committee became part of the Student Affairs committee.

Activities:

Careers event

First and second year introductory lectures

Database for externships

Individual meeting with professors

Annual Careers Event

From 2008-2011, Careers Week lunchtime presentations were held within a one-week (Monday-Friday at early February) timeframe. One speaker was invited to talk to, and interact with students, and discuss their personal experience as graduate students or as private practitioners. A variety of specialists and general dentists have been involved during that time period.

In March 2012, Careers Week was converted to a Careers Event, and all invited speakers gave their presentations in one evening, during a two-hour event. This change was positive as it allowed a larger number of students to attend.
